Quick start guide (free version)

This is a brief guide that will help you use the SimpleSign app quickly to sign documents. Not all features are discussed in this guide.

Getting started

  1. Download the app and choose the download link that matches the OS you are using.

  2. Install the app in the "usual" way

  3. Follow the wizard after the installation it will guide you through the first steps that you do not need to repeat the second time around.

First Usage

  1. First you need to give consent and choose a location on your device where your documents are stored.

  2. Then you need to register with a valid mail address

  3. In the Free version it is possible to sign documents (3 times for free) with Smart-ID before you need to buy a bundle of signatures. The application will ask you to enter you National Number or create a Smart-ID account if you do not have one yet. If you do not want to do this immediately, press the X in the top right of the screen. You can create your Smart-ID account at any moment and go to the settings menu (3-bars in the top right), Smart-ID tab to start using Smart-ID.

You only need to do these three steps once!

Sign a document

If you are using the Free version and do not want to use Smart-ID, you also need to install the Trust1Connector on your device. This middleware is the link between your card reader and your device.

You can find the download links for the Trust1Connector in the settings menu (3 bars top right of the screen) in the Connector tab. Choose the download link that matches your OS and install the connector.

  1. Attach a card reader to your device and insert your eID.

  2. Add a document (needs to be PDF) in the Add file tab

  3. Press the green eye button in the inbox tab behind the document to view the document

  4. Press show signature to place the signature field where you want your signature to appear

  5. Close the document with the red X in the top right of the document

  6. Press the blue pen to sign the document

  7. Your eID should be automatically detected if you have done the previous steps correctly.

  8. Press Sign and enter you pincode on the card reader (if using a pin-pad reader) or in the pop-up field.

  9. DONE you have signed the document!

Signed documents

Signed documents are listed in the signed tab of the app.

Pressing the green button behind the document allows you to view the signed document.

Pressing the black "folder" button brings your signed document back to the inbox. This allows you to put a second signature on the document.

Pressing the black "enveloppe" button opens your file explorer on the folder where the signed document is stored. The signed file has got the "_signed" attached to its original name. Drag and drop it in a mail!
